Sustainability is integral to NorCell. As a global forest products leader, we produce and sell paper more efficiently and sustainably than our competitors, with a sharp and continuous focus on environmental health and safety. We exceed legal and statutory environmental requirements, and maintain the highest ethical standards. We also measure our mills monthly on key environmental performance indicators.
Norske Skog paper is produced in accordance with standards developed by leading recreational and environmental organizations, forest owners, and paper industry associations. Our mills work continuously—via alternative energy sources and other methods—to reduce emissions and discharges.
Moreover, we use strategic forestry approaches to help control climate change. Our raw materials are renewable and recyclable. Sustainably managed forests absorb carbon dioxide and at the end of their life, can produce bio-energy.
To ensure that Norske Skog timber comes from sustainably managed forests, our mills feature traceability certificates proving that we do not source raw materials from controversial areas. Already, about 70 percent of timber Norske Skog uses is certified and our goal is to have a 100 percent-certified wood supply by 2015. We take great pride in our environmental stewardship, and find innovative ways to improve every day.
